About 40 Minutes away…but very lush. Designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr., and built by Laurance Rockefeller, the Club is the recipient of Golf Magazine's Gold Medal award and annually hosts the Konica USVI Golf Classic featuring LPGA professionals. In a tropical valley, the course features rolling terrain, ninety-four bunkers and four par 3's. The Reef Golf Course About 10 minutes away going away from Christiansted. More of the budget course. Teague Bay on the East End, 9- hole Golf Course, Par 35, with a driving range. Also on premises are tennis courts, a beautiful beach, and a beachside restaurant serving lunch and dinner. DRIVING YOURSELF St. Croix Heritage Trail The St. Croix Heritage Trail is a self guided driving tour of the island's historic sites and natural areas. The trail provides linkages between many of St. Croix's major historic attractions such as Whim Plantation Museum, St. Georges Village Botanical Gardens, and Christiansted Historic Site as well as several plantation ruins. Natural areas and bird watching locales are depicted on the comprehensive map. Plans call for the development of pullovers and overlooks with further interpretation through signs and wayside exhibits. SPORTS Kite St. Croix Kite St. Croix is a SLINGSHOT powered school and kite board rental. A P.A.S.A certified school, offering the latest in teaching techniques. St. Croix Scuba Shack A beach front store on Frederiksted's west. Dave Ward, the shop owner, has ten years experience working with NOAA, the National Undersea Research Center, and Marine Scientists. A full service dive facility with NAUI and PADI certified instructors, teaching introductory through advanced diver training. KAYAKS are also available to discover the calm waters of the west end. Dive Experience Dive Experience has been in business for 20 years and is St. Croix’s original PADI 5 Star Instructor training facility. All Scuba training, from introductory dives, referral classes, and advance training all the way up to PADI instructor. Dive Experience also offers a Fish Feed dive. Open 7 days a week. Cane Bay Dive Shop Cane Bay Dive Shop is also a Five Star PADI facility that offers packages to divers of all levels. They have store locations in Cane Bay and Christiansted which are open seven days a week. They also have a dive shop in Frederiksted that offers boat dives to west coast sites. America's Paradise Gym SIGHTSEEING Whim Plantation Museum Whim Plantation Museum, an authentic Danish sugar estate dating from the 1700's offers a glimpse into the days when sugar was King and rum flowed freely on St. Croix. Tour the elegantly furnished great house, explore sugar factory ruins, and roam the grounds. There is also a museum store with a large selection of West Indian crafts, furniture, prints and souvenirs. Lawaetz Family Museum In a valley northeast of Frederiksted, the Lawaetz Museum's 18-century estate house, with its accompanying ruins and rambling garden, has a charming old-island quality. Converted from a sugar plantation into a dairy ranch in the late 1890's by a Danish farmer and occupied by his descendants for the last 100 years, it houses characteristic and unusual antique furnishings and heirlooms, providing a unique view of Danish West Indian life in the early 1900's. NIGHTCLUB Club 54 On Company Street in downtown Christiansted. Club 54 is one of St. Croix's most popular nightclub for both locals and tourists. Live music every weekend, a big-screen TV for sporting events, and a full menu of bar pizzas and other late-night snacks. BOATING Shabeen Charters US Coast Guard Licensed Captains Jim Adams and Brenda Cavanaugh depart from Green Cay Marina on St. Croix's East End on a 42' luxury sloop at 10am, returning at 4pm. They anchor at a secluded spot where you can swim, snorkel, lounge, and have a catered buffet luncheon, including your favorite beverages. They provide the snorkeling equipment and instruction. There is a limit of six guests per sail. Jones Maritime Co. The Virgin Islands are the ideal location to learn to sail. Christiansted harbor and the waters surrounding St. Croix add to the ease of the beginning experience with steady winds and calm seas, while the offshore trips offer a challenging new experience as well as great anchorages and beautiful scenery.
